Reading Buddies Club
On Wednesday, June 1, I volunteered at First 5 Ventura County, reading to the kids that came for Reading Buddies Club. There were so many kids this week - our program keeps growing and growing! It's great knowing that the kids are learning how much fun reading can be.
Cajun Creole Festival
On Saturday, May 28, Allison Bowman (Miss Ventura County Intl 2012), Tatiana Juarez (Junior Miss Ventura County Intl 2012), and I volunteered all day at the Cajun Creole Festival in Simi Valley. We walked around, selling beads to raise money for the Rotary Club. It was such a fun day for a great cause!
Reading Buddies Club
On Wednesday, May 18, I wore my crown and sash for the first time at my platform, First 5's Reading Buddies Club. All of the kids gathered around and gave me the books they wanted to read. I read to them for an hour straight before they started drawing in their journals. It was such a great day! One of the little girls I read to was even dressed like a princess - we matched!

On Thursday, April 14, I was so excited to look in the Acorn and see an article about Allison Bowman and I winning the 6th Annual Miss Ventura County Intl 2012 pageant! Self Defense Class
On Sunday, April 10, American Hapkido Mixed Martial Arts offered the Crowning Glory girls a private self defense class and gave us gift certificates for 30 days of classes. I learned a lot and loved hanging with Tatiana Juarez (Junior Miss Ventura County Intl) and Rachael Maurer (2nd runner up in Miss Teen Ventura County Intl)!
Max Muscle Grand Opening
On Saturday, April 2, Allison Bowman (Miss Ventura County Intl 2012), Tatiana Juarez (Junior Miss Ventura County Intl 2012), and I attended the grand opening of Max Muscle Sports Nutrition. We passed out flyers and even met International bodybuilder Flex Lewis! Visiting Torgny & Co. Jewelers
On Saturday, April 2, we visited one of our generous sponsors, Torgny & Co. Jewelers. We took lots of pictures and got to see how they make their custom jewelry, like my Miss Teen Ventura County Intl 2012 pendant! It was really interesting!
Contract Signing
On Sunday afternoon, March 27, Allison Bowman (Miss Ventura County Intl 2012) and I went to our director's house to sign our contracts. We made strawberry shortcakes to celebrate and we received some of our prizes, including a trophy, Gold's Gym membership, $350 certificate to Alayna's Bridal & Formals, photo session with Kenny Backer, and unlimited tanning at Tan LA. Boys & Girls Club Dinner and Auction Gala
On Saturday night, March 26, I had my first appearance! Allison Bowman (Miss Ventura County Intl 2012), Tatiana Juarez (Junior Miss Ventura County Intl 2012), and I all volunteered at the 24th Annual Moorpark Boys & Girls Club Dinner and Auction Gala at the Ronald Reagan Library. We walked around, introduced ourselves to some of the guests, and helped out with the silent auction. It was an amazing start to my year as a reigning titleholder and I can't wait to see what the rest of the year will hold!
Reading Buddies Club
On Wednesday, March 23, I volunteered at my platform, First 5. I specifically volunteer with the Reading Buddies Club, where teens are matched with a child to spend time reading together. I have been volunteering there for the past year and it is such a rewarding experience. I love sharing my love of reading with the children! This amazing program is only offered at First 5 Ventura County, so my goal is to start Reading Buddies Clubs at some of the other First 5s in California.
